Staff Appreciation Week

Staff Appreciation Week

Once again the PTA has organised a Staff Appreciation Week at the school. On Monday, staff arrived at a school decorated with door posters with statements of appreciation. They were also invited for a special breakfast before starting their In Service day. The week has then been filled with fika, cards, flowers and other gifts, all to show appreciation for what the staff do for their students. It’s been a fantastic week, the staff at IESU feel so lucky to have such wonderful students and parents!

Sports-day followed Sportlov!

Sports-day followed Sportlov!

Next week is Sportlov! The first third of the term has zoomed by quite quickly. Apart from regular lessons, we’ve had staff from “folktandvården” talking to the year 5s and 8s as well as firemen from the local firestation talking to the year 7s about fire safety. The year 5s have also visited Domkyrkan as part of their Religion studies. Fianlly, the year 9s have now all completed their “test-run” Gymnasie-choice! The period now ends with a Sport Day. Sadly no winter sports are on offer (apart from skating) but many other sports including basket and rugby!

Welcome!

Welcome to the Spring term! We are into the second full week of school after the well deserved Christmas break. Teaching is in full swing, including schedule breaking activities such as stop-motion animation workshops for year 8 and sessions on healthy teeth from “folktandvården”, year 5 and 8. The year 9’s are also starting their first gymnasie choice period - all very exciting. Coming up we have the parents evenings for grades 4-6 next Wednesday (week 5) and 7-9 the following Wednesday (week 6). Please check Schoolsoft for the exact times for every year group. Welcome!

Great Results!

Great Results!

IES now have 37 schools across Sweden and our combined results clearly show that our ethos pays off. IES Uppsala has been awarded an internal IES award for strong grade integrity, meaning that we have a strong correlation between national test results in grade 9 and final grades, something we are very proud off. The teachers collaborate closely, co-planning and assessing to ensure we interpret the curriculum in the same way, giving coherent, strong and fair results.

With that I Wish you a peaceful Christmas and a Happy New Year!
